Virtual Links launches its course media product at Steele Canyon
San Diego, CA.- San Diego based Virtual Links, LLC launched its new social media integration product designed for golf courses at Gary Player’s Steele Canyon Golf Club. ”We featured three holes per nine out there and it really turned out”, said VL Director Ryan, Knisley. The media, including helicopters fly-overs of each featured hole bounces back and forth from the ground to the air giving the viewer a total interactive experience. The product has increased play and visibility at Steele Canyon. Once the media is produced the course adopts the files for its own uses while Virtual Links hosts the HD media on their servers linked to the home course. This method allows for a “no cost” addition to the existing IT side of the course and allows seamless access for golfers. The media files are specially created to be fully portable. ”It’s critical in this day and age to be able to reach your player where they are at and with what ever device they are holding at the time”, said Media Director, Fred Helm. ”Players looking for where to play can access each hole file on their smart phones, Facebook, or in just about any web experience”, according to Helm.
Monetizing the product has been the challenge in this huge downturn in the economy and specifically the over-built golf industry. ”We prefer an inventory trade out over time that is completely integrated with the courses online booking agent like, Golf Now. The course does not have to spend any time managing the process and it doesn’t require an additional work assignment for the existing staff”, said Virtual Links, CFO, Tyler Babcock.
Producing the shoot shuts the course down for 30 minutes on one day and usually at the start of the day. The rest of the production is shot while play is occurring with minimal visibility. Virtual Links has been able to deliver the product in 30 days from the time of the course shoot. (TAKE A LOOK)
